After being transported by land to the port of Houston, Texas, the fifth central solenoid module has been loaded onboard an oceangoing vessel for transport to France.

Manufactured by General Atomics in Poway, California, on behalf of US ITER, the module is expected to arrive at the ITER site later this month.

The sixth and final production module completed testing in May and will shipped later this year. The six modules will be stacked vertically to form the central solenoid, which will induce the majority of the magnetic flux change needed to initiate the plasma, generate the plasma current, and maintain this current during the burn time. (A seventh module will be used as a spare.)
